Day 10, Feb 12th
Today was our planned rest day, a plan we were reasonably happy to stick to when we woke to a sunny day, but a fairly stiff breeze was blowing and it was quite cold early. Even though it was a sleep-in, I was still first up as usual, not helped by the garbage truck. Now this garbage truck obviously comes a very long way to collect the trash...
...yep, all the way from BFI.
In the morning Clive decided it was time to clear the snow from one of our balconies in preparation for our BBQ dinner tomorrow night...
After lunch 'The Gang' went down to Happy Valley for snowtubing. I took the opportunity for some quiet time and stayed back in the unit. From all reports they had a great time and the kids, big kids and small, have decided to spend our final night on Tuesday snowtubing again.
This also gave me an opportunity to take some pictures from our unit balcony...
A few shots of the ice climbing tower down at Happy Valley which rises above the tops of the buildings...
...and finally a nice shot of the Monashee Mountain range in the distance...
In the evening the babysitter arrived at 6pm to look after the kids whilst the 8 adults went out to enjoy dinner. The babysitter was one of the girls who works in the ski school/kids centre and was a private arrangement brokered by the girls. We had a lovely meal at Snowshoe Sam's, finished off with their famous Gunbarrell Coffee before making our way back to the unit. The weather had turned decidedly dodgy by this stage and we grabbed what we think was the last shuttle at about 10:45. This time around we had more luck bribing the driver with a tip and we were delivered directly to the garage door.
Diane, Lorraine, Brenda, Darren and Kody are heading down the mountain on the shopping shuttle to Kelowna in the morning whilst the rest of us will dust the one day old cobwebs off and hit the slopes.
Later...
